I’m having a few problems with the Facebook exporter for Aperture. Whenever I try to upload a batch of photographs to Facebook, the exporter hangs after uploading the first photograph.
I have the same pbm as “abitgone” but worse : nothing happens fater clicking the export button, nothing is uploaded… It just sticks there and I have to click “cancel” to go back to my main window… Any clues ?
I have the same issue. It also hangs on “Loading xx pictures” after it logged in to my Facebook account.
I am running Aperture 2.1.1 (3F1).
If it makes any difference, the source material is Nikon RAW (NEF), but I would expect the plugin to convert before uploading. It works with the official iPhoto plugin.
I am unable to login to different facebook accounts through the exporter.. It always logs into the original account I set up.. Would be great if you coudl take a look…
Sometime I want to upload photos to my wife’s facebook page and vice versa…
Same problem here. It sometimes works but other times it hangs straight after starting. It seems to be able to connect to Facebook ok but then cant load in the photos for tagging/captioning. The “cancel” button works but leaves Aperture completely frozen. I have to end up doing a hard reset of the machine.
I’m having the same problem as others, with the exporter hanging on ‘Loading 1 Photos’ when I attempt to export a cropped ‘version’ rather than a master image. It also hangs if I include the ‘version’ image in a set of other images. I think that is the problem, it seems to work fine for master images, even if they have been adjusted.
Gavin, you shouldn’t need to hard reset your machine, but if you’re having the same problem I am you will need to force-quit Aperture. You can do that by right-clicking (or control-clicking) aperture in the dock, holding down the ‘option’ key, and then choose ‘force quit’ from the contextual popup menu.
Sean thanks a bunch for the time you put into this and for making it free, it’s really appreciated. Unlike others, I’ve used it about 6 times in testing and it’s worked perfectly every time.
Just wanted to pass along a couple suggestions that first occurred to me. I only have 1 FB account (for now), it would be nice if I could skip the step of typing my password every time.
Also, more importantly, it would be REALLY nice of the plugin/app’s window was resizeable. Right now there’s only room for about 3-6 thumbnails in the viewer; being able to make the window bigger would make it easier to navigate through the thumbnails.
Just tested this plug-in and I’m in the same boat as some other posters: nothing happens. The first time, Aperture had to be force quit, but now I can just cancel and it stays responsive. Just no photo’s in Facebook. :(
Just wanted to mention that my problems to publish photographs on Facebook using this plug-in are solved. There’s a setting on Facebook named “FB Exporter for Aperture” under the ‘notifications’ tab which has to be set to ‘yes’. Uploading works from then on but you have to approve the photos on the webpage to make them visible to your friends.
Works fine except it hangs are really large images. Also, how do I upload to a Facebook Page other than my homepage? I tried uploading to my Facebook Pro page and it ended up on my personal page. Both pages are linked to the same account.
I don't know if I'm the only one, but I can't connect to Facebook anymore since a week, 2 weeks (don't remember exactly). I've been using it without problems for a year or so, and now I just get: http://www.cygno.com/remco/20090810_FacebookExporter_Aperture.png
Given the amount of traffic here I guess the chance of a response is fairly low, but I thought I'd try it anyway…
I don't think you will receive an answer, it seems Sean has abandoned this page since 2008. Anyway, it's probably a matter of deleting the exporter plugin itself, which can be found in:
Sean – I appreciate your work on FB Exporter. Is there anyway to upload photos to FB Fan Pages that we admin (as opposed to just uploading to our FB account)? Thanks!

Any chance you could update the source download link for 0.5.2? It returns 404 at the moment. Thanks!

Hi,
I’m having a few problems with the Facebook exporter for Aperture. Whenever I try to upload a batch of photographs to Facebook, the exporter hangs after uploading the first photograph.
I’ve posted a screencast of the exporter hanging on the first upload. See http://abitgone.co.uk/video/fbexporthang.mov for the video.
If there’s any logging I can do to help further identify where the problem is, I’ll be happy to help in bug hunting.
Cheers!

Facebook just upped their album limit to 200 photos. Any chance to get the plug-in limit upped as well?

Hi,
Thanks for the plug-in, but it doesn't work too well.
How do I uninstall it completely?
I'm running 10.6.1 and Aperture 2.1.4.
Thanks

@Erez:
I don't think you will receive an answer, it seems Sean has abandoned this page since 2008. Anyway, it's probably a matter of deleting the exporter plugin itself, which can be found in:
/Library/Application Support/Aperture/Plug-Ins/Export
The file is called FacebookExporterAperture.ApertureExport.
See also this screenshot.
I'd quit Aperture, delete this file (or move it to another location, just in case), then relaunch Aperture.

Would you consider doing a plugin to LifePics? We run 500 retail photo web sites with millions of users.

Please keep your Plug-In going on as AP3 own FB support has no Watermarks…
